Installing the Over-Center Spring

-- Clip the bearing shell -1- in the appropriate bearing position.

Over-Center Spring Installation Position 

Over-Center Spring Installation Position  -2-
  • Bearing position "I" -arrow A- :
  • Vehicles with 6-cylinder engines
  • Vehicles with 8-cylinder engines
  • Bearing position "II" -arrow B-
  • No assignment on vehicles equipped with the >>0B4 transmission<<
  • Clip the bearing shell -1- in the appropriate bearing position.
  • The black side of the over-center spring -arrow C- faces the clutch pedal.

-- Press the clutch pedal -1- down as far as the stop and insert the over-center spring -2- with the Over-Center Spring Assembly Clamp T40025.

-- Pull the clutch pedal -1- back to the resting position. While doing so, remove the Over-Center Spring Assembly Clamp T40025 with the over-center spring -2- tensioned.

-- Insert the footwell vent -B- and tighten the bolt -A-. Refer to DRIVER SIDE FOOTWELL VENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Connect the connector -C-, if equipped.

-- Install the driver side instrument panel cover. Refer to DRIVER SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
