For both E-Boxes

-- Disconnect the Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- connector.

-- Connect the Connection Cable: VAS6395A/2  to the Turbocharger Control Module 2 -J724- and to the E-Box: VAS6395A/1  .

Display on the E-Box : VAS6395A/1  :

-- Press the v  button -4- to continue.

NOTE:

If "[OK]" appears in the display, then the Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- adjustment range is OK.

If the display shows "FAULT [OK]", tap the Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- housing several times with the handle of a screwdriver. Repeat test by pushing v  button -4-.

-- Remove the bolt -arrow-.

NOTE:

All other bolts visible in the illustration must not be removed.

-- Attach the Turbo E-Positioner Service Kit - Bracket: VAS6395 /6  to the center opening in the bracket for the Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- and tighten the bolt to 8 Nm.

-- Press the v  button -4- to continue.

-- While determining the voltage, tap on the side of the Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- housing with the handle of a screwdriver until the following appears in the display:

Display on the E-Box: VAS6395A/1  :

  1. X, XXX V
  2. [↑][↓][OK]

-- Write down the voltage.

NOTE:

If the display shows "FAULT [OK]" or a voltage value of less than 3.3 V or greater than 3.7 V, disconnect the E-Box: VAS6395A/1  . Repeat the entire procedure. Refer to For both E-Boxes .

-- Adjust the Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- using the ↑  -5- or ↓  -6- buttons so that the coupling rod is accessible for removal.

-- Remove the circlips -arrows- and disconnect the coupling rod.

-- Adjust Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- using the ↑  -5- or ↓  -6- buttons so that the bolts for Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- are accessible.

-- Disconnect the Turbo E-Positioner Service Kit - Wire Set: VAS6395/2  from the Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724-

CAUTION:

The power supply for the E-Box: VAS6395A /1  must remain connected.

-- Remove the screws -1, 2 and 3- and dispose of them.

NOTE:

All other bolts visible in the illustration must not be removed.

-- Remove the old Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- and dispose of it.

Installing

CAUTION:

Make sure there are 3 insulating washers between the Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- and the bracket.

-- Install the new Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- in reverse order of removal. 

-- Install the new screws as follows:

  1. M6 x 15 with Narrow Shaft
  2. M6 x 15 with Narrow Shaft
  3. M6 x 15

-- Only tighten the bolts by hand.

-- Connect the Turbo E-Positioner Service Kit - Wire Set: VAS6395/2  on the Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724-

-- Press the v  button -4- to continue.

-- Select "NEXT" using the ↓  button -6-.

-- Press the v  button -4- to continue.

-- Install the coupling rod.

-- Install the lock washers -arrows-.

-- Gently push the Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- to the rear -arrow-, until the lever -1- touches the Turbo E-Positioner Service Kit - Bracket : VAS6395/6  .

-- Hold the Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- in this position.

-- Tighten the bolts -1, 2 and 3- to 5 Nm.

-- Press the v  button -4- to continue.

If the displays shows [OK], complete adjustment. Refer to Complete the Adjustment .

If "CHECK" appears in the display, continue as follows.

-- Loosen the screws -1, 2 and 3- just enough so that is possible to move the Turbocharger Control Module 1 -J724- with slight resistance in the direction specified.

-- Tighten the bolts -1, 2 and 3- to 5 Nm.

-- Press the v  button -4- to continue.
