Rear Deformation Element, Sedan, Removing and Installing

CAUTION:
On vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar, switch-off emergency (back-up) battery for Telematic/Telephone Control Module prior to disconnecting vehicle battery. Switch-on emergency (back-up) battery after reconnecting vehicle battery → 91 - COMMUNICATION
1 - Deformation element
- Removing
NOTE:
- The battery must be disconnected when the ignition is switched on.
- Switch on ignition.
- Disconnect the battery ground strap.
- Remove sun visor → Sun Visor, Removing and Installing .
- Remove roof grab handles → Roof Grab Handle, Removing and Installing .
- Remove upper trim on A-pillar → Upper A-Pillar Trim, Removing and Installing .
- Remove garment hook → Garment Hook, Removing and Installing .
- Remove D-pillar trim → D-Pillar Trim, Removing and Installing .
- Remove rear shelf → Rear Shelf, Removing and Installing .
- Remove head-level airbag → Side Curtain Airbag, Removing and Installing .
- Remove nuts - 2 - (3x).
- Remove deformation element - 1 -.
- Installing
- Install deformation element - 1 - in reverse order of removal.
2 - Nuts (3x)
- Tightening torque 4 Nm.
