Vane pump, removing and installing:: Removing

NOTE:
- To prevent damage to the ribbed belt, check the alignment of the A/C compressor ribbed belt and the power steering pump.
Check ribbed belt alignment after replacing the following components.
- Pump
- Bracket for pump
- Place vehicle on hoist → POSITIONING VEHICLE ON HOIST AND WHEELS .
- Extract hydraulic oil from reservoir using old oil collecting and extracting device V.A.G 1782.
- On vehicles with an auxiliary heater, remove bolts - arrows - connecting exhaust pipe to the noise insulation.
- Loosen quick-release fasteners - 1 - and - 2 - and remove noise insulation.
- Remove front bumper → .
- Bring lock carrier into service position → .
- Release tension from ribbed belt. Engine code BFM → → .
- Remove ribbed belt from power steering pump belt pulley.
- Place drip tray VAS 6208 underneath to collect hydraulic oil.
- Remove hose clamp - 4 - from suction line - 3 -.
- Remove pressure line and lay aside.
- Remove banjo bolt - 2 - for pressure hose - 1 -.
- Connect connection holes with plugs.
- Install a piece of wood with width of a = 50 mm between longitudinal member - 1 - and lock carrier - 2 -.
- Disconnect threaded connection - arrow - on rear side of power steering pump - 1 -.
- Remove bolts - 1 - for power steering pump belt pulley - 2 -.
- Disconnect power steering pump threaded connections - 3 -.
- Remove power steering pump.
