Vane pump, removing and installing:: Installing
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
Installation is in reverse order of removal. Observe the following when doing so:
- Replace seals and gaskets.
- Clean oiled places in engine compartment.
- Always replace O-rings on driveshaft of pump and intake line.
- Before installing new power steering pump on intake side, fill hydraulic oil and screw in by hand until oil escapes on pressure side.
- Hose connections and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.
- Secure all hose connections with hose clamps appropriate to the model .
- Complete pump as shown in illustration and install on engine.

- Turn hub by hand until oil runs out of pressure side.
- Install pressure line - 2 - on pump.
- Tighten bolts - 4 -.
- Tighten bolt - 3 -.
- Connect intake hose - 1 - to vane pump and secure with clamp.
- Top off hydraulic oil .
Suction Hose, Location on Power Steering Pump
- Clean oily areas on subframe.
- Install drive axle → DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Install left catalytic converter. Engine code BFM → , BSB → , BSM and BVJ → .
- Install engine. Engine code BFM → , BSB → , BSM and BVJ → .
- Only tighten subframe bolts to the specification, do not tighten them further (only tighten the bolts after an alignment).
CAUTION:
If vehicle will be driving on the streets, all screws and nuts must be tightened properly!
- Bleed steering system → Steering System, Bleeding after Reconstructing .
- Check power steering fluid level → Power Steering, V8, Checking Oil Level .
- Check steering system for leaks → Steering System, Checking for Leaks .
- Place vehicle on wheels → POSITIONING VEHICLE ON HOIST AND WHEELS .
- Perform vehicle alignment → Wheel Alignment .
- Calibrate the adaptive cruise control → Adjustment Procedure Using ACC Setting Device VAS 6190 .
