Vane pump, removing and installing:: Removing

NOTE:
- To prevent damage to the ribbed belt, check the alignment of the A/C compressor ribbed belt and the power steering pump.
Check ribbed belt alignment after replacing the following components.
- Pump
- Bracket for pump
- Place vehicle on hoist → POSITIONING VEHICLE ON HOIST AND WHEELS .
- Remove left front wheel.
NOTE:
- Secure the brake disc using two wheel bolts.
- On vehicles with an auxiliary heater, remove the bolts - arrows - for the auxiliary heater exhaust pipe on the noise insulation.
- Open quick-release fasteners - arrows - at the bottom left and right of the wheel housing liners.
- Loosen quick-release fasteners - 1 - and remove front noise insulation.
NOTE:
- Press the locking pins on the wheel housing liners only about 5 mm into the expanding clip and not all the way through.
- This releases the locking pin so it can be removed.
- When installing, slide the locking pin back and the expanding clip can be used again.
- Press locking pins on the expanding clips - 1 - on the front wheel housing liner about 5 mm deep into the expanding clip using a screwdriver.
- Remove expanding clip.
- Remove bolt - 2 - from wheel housing liner.
- Remove both bolts - arrows - from front wheel housing liner.
Do not remove rear wheel housing liner - 2 -.
- Remove upper bolt - arrow - from front wheel housing liner.
NOTE:
- Press the locking pins on the wheel housing liners only about 5 mm into the expanding clip and not all the way through.
- This releases the locking pin so it can be removed.
- When installing, slide the locking pin back and the expanding clip can be used again.

- Press locking pins on the expanding clips - arrow - on the front wheel housing liner about 5 mm deep into the expanding clip using a screwdriver.
- Remove expanding clip.
- Repeat procedure to remove expanding clip - arrow - in upper area of front wheel housing liner.
- Repeat procedure to remove the expanding clip - arrow - in the rear area of the front wheel housing liner - 1 -.
- Place drip tray VAS 6208 underneath to collect hydraulic oil.
- Remove hose clamp - 4 - from suction line - 3 -.
- Remove pressure line and lay aside.
- Remove banjo bolt - 2 - for pressure hose - 1 -.
- Connect connection holes with plugs.
- Remove both air guide hoses - arrows - on bottom of the lower left air filter housing section. Press release buttons together to do that.

- Disconnect electrical connector - 3 - for the mass air flow sensor 2 G246.
- Remove hose - 2 - from the air guide hose.
- Remove air guide hose - 1 - on the intake manifold.
- Remove screws - arrows -.
- Remove air filter housing left upper section.
- Remove air duct - 1 -.
- Remove screws - arrows -.
- Remove air filter housing lower left section.
- Remove engine cover upward, first at the rear and then in the center - 1 arrows -.
- Remove engine cover forward from intake manifold - 2 arrows -.
- Tilt tensioner in direction of - arrow - to release ribbed belt tension.
- Remove ribbed belt from power steering pump belt pulley, release tensioner.
NOTE:
- The ribbed belt remains routed on the other belt pulleys.
- Remove power steering pump belt pulley - 1 - - arrows -.
- Remove bolts - arrows - and power steering pump.
