Pressure Reservoir, Removing and Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
- Torque wrench V.A.G 1783
- Insert tool 10 V.A.G 1783/1
Removing
NOTE:
- The pressure reservoir is installed above the left rear muffler.
- Place vehicle on a hoist → POSITIONING VEHICLE ON HOIST AND WHEELS .
- Vent system → System, Venting or Filling .
- Remove rear portion of exhaust system →
- for 4.2 LITER V8 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BVJ
- for 4.2 LITER V8 5V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BFM
- for 5.2 LITER 10-CYL. 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BSM
- for 6.0 LITER 12-CYL. 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BSB
- Remove heat shield from left of the vehicle underbody below the pressure reservoir.
- Slowly loosen air line - 1 - on pressure reservoir - 2 - and allow air pressure to escape. When air pressure has escaped, remove air line - 1 -.
- Remove nuts - arrows - and pressure reservoir - 2 -.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal. Observe the following when doing so:
- Insert pressure reservoir - 2 - and tighten the nuts - arrows - to 9 Nm.
- Tighten air line connection on the pressure reservoir - 1 - to 5 Nm.
- Switch on ignition.
- Switch "vehicle lift mode" off → Vehicle Lift Mode or → Owners Manual.
- Fill system using VAS 5051 A → System, Venting or Filling .
- Install heat shield on left of the vehicle underbody below the pressure reservoir.
- Install and adjust exhaust system free of stress →
- for 4.2 LITER V8 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BVJ
- for 4.2 LITER V8 5V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BFM
- for 5.2 LITER 10-CYL. 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BSM
- for 6.0 LITER 12-CYL. 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BSB
