Selector shaft oil seal, replacing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Pry lever RMV outside mirror 80-200
- Thrust piece T10135
Removing
- Shift selector lever in "P" position.
- Activate vehicle jack mode → 43 - Self Leveling Suspension .
NOTE:
- Before raising the vehicle on a hoist (wheels off the ground), the vehicle jack mode must first be activated.
- Raise vehicle.
- Remove both rear sound insulation panels, by removing bolts - 2 - , - 3 - and - 4 -.
- Remove shield from selector shaft lever.
- Pry off selector lever cable - 1 - from selector shaft lever - 3 - using pry lever RMV outside mirror 80-200.
NOTE:
- Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
- Drive out roll pin - 1 - at selector shaft lever - 2 - in direction indicated - arrow - until selector shaft lever can be pulled off selector shaft.
- Pierce oil seal with a small screwdriver and pull out.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order or removal, note the following:
- Lubricate outer circumference and space between sealing lips with ATF.
- Installation position: The open side of the sealing ring faces the transmission.
- Press new seal onto selector shaft.
- Press on new oil seal as far as stop using thrust piece T10135 and assembly lever - A - making sure that the seal does not distort.
NOTE:
- To prevent assembly lever from slipping when pressing in seal, place a slip-resistant base (e.g. piece of rubber) between assembly lever and subframe - arrow -.
- With transmission selector lever still removed, drive roll pin back through the lever from opposite direction.
- Push transmission selector lever onto selector shaft and drive in spring pin.
- Attach shield to selector shaft lever.
- Press selector lever cable - 1 - onto selector shaft lever - 3 -.
NOTE:
- Do not bend selector shaft lever when pressing on, otherwise shift mechanism can no longer be adjusted exactly.
