Front final drive gear oil, topping off after repairs

Safety glasses

Conditions

Gear oil temperature at approx. 20°C (room temperature).

Topping off

Make sure vehicle is absolutely level, drive onto a hoist or over a service pit.

NOTE:

If lifting the vehicle on a hoist with wheels off the ground, the vehicle jack mode must be activated → 43 - Self Leveling Suspension

Place drip tray V.A.G 1306 under the transmission.

Remove inspection plug - arrow -.
Fill front final drive with oil (specification → Capacities ) slowly over a period of at least 5 minutes until oil drips from bottom of inspection hole.

NOTE:

A filling time of at least 5 minutes is required so that the internal oil level between the differential and oil fill space can equalize.
Replace O-ring of inspection plug.

Tighten inspection plug to 35 Nm.

NOTE:

It is not necessary to check the oil level again at this stage.
