Front final drive gear oil, checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Drip tray V.A.G 1306
- Safety glasses
Requirements
- Gear oil temperature at approx. 20°C (room temperature).
Test sequence
- Make sure vehicle is absolutely level, drive onto a hoist or over a service pit.
NOTE:
- If lifting the vehicle on a hoist with wheels off the ground, the vehicle jack mode must be activated → 43 - Self Leveling Suspension
- Place drip tray V.A.G 1306 under transmission.
CAUTION:
Wear eye protection.
- Remove inspection plug - arrow -.
- The fluid level must be at the bottom edge of inspection hole opening.
- Drain off excess oil or top off to proper level; Specification → Front final drive .
NOTE:
- Replace inspection plug with seal.
- Tighten new inspection plug to 35 Nm.
NOTE:
- If vehicle was lifted with a hoist, the vehicle jack mode must be deactivated → 43 - Self Leveling Suspension .
