Removing rear transmission supports with transmission mounts

NOTE:

Before lifting the vehicle on hoist with wheels off the ground, the vehicle jack mode must be activated → 43 - Self Leveling Suspension .

Raise vehicle.
Remove crossmember - A - below exhaust system.
Separate front exhaust pipes with catalytic converter from rear exhaust system - arrows - and tie them up to the side.
Remove shield - B -.

Remove air duct - 1 - from transmission.
Remove sound insulation panel - 2 - below engine/transmission.
Remove heat shield - 3 - for driveshaft.
Unbolt driveshaft - 4 - at transmission and tie up or support → 39 FINAL DRIVE, DIFFERENTIAL .

Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 - at rear of subframe on both sides of vehicle → 40 - FRONT SUSPENSION .
Remove supports for subframe - A -.

Place engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A with transmission support 3282 under transmission.
Place both front supports 3282/52 against transmission oil pan.
Insert third support 3282/48 in the hole at rear of transmission housing.
Remove bracket for sound insulation panel below ATF cooler.

Carefully lower engine and transmission at rear.
To prevent damage from occurring, it is very important to pay attention to everything in the engine compartment.

NOTE:

The front exhaust pipes must not be loosened at transmission and primary catalytic converters.

Remove left and right transmission supports (only right-side shown in illustration) with transmission mounts from transmission (3 bolts each) - arrows -.

A - Hex key

NOTE:

In order to reach all retaining bolts for the transmission supports at the transmission, press the transmission down at the rear if necessary. Take note of selector lever cable when doing so.
