ATF cooler, removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Hose Clamps up to 25 mm dia. 3094
- Old oil collecting and extracting device V.A.G 1782
- Safety glasses
Removing
- Remove noise insulation.
- Mark all corresponding ATF cooling hoses at radiator in color to prevent mix-ups.
- Place old oil collecting and extracting device V.A.G 1782 beneath transmission.
CAUTION:
Wear eye protection.
- Clamp off ATF cooling hoses to ATF cooler using hose clamps up to 25 mm dia. 3094.
- Remove coolant hoses from ATF cooler.
- Seal off ATF coolant hoses with clean sealing plugs.
NOTE:
- Plug line openings quickly to prevent unnecessary drainage of coolant from cooling system.
- Remove three bolts - arrows - and remove ATF cooler - B -.
NOTE:
- Both ATF seals between ATF cooler and transmission must always be replaced.
- Plug both openings on transmission with clean sealing plugs.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
- Replace both ATF seals between ATF cooler and transmission.
- Lubricate both new seals with ATF and attach to ATF cooler.
- Attach ATF cooler - B - to transmission and tighten bolts - arrows - to 10 Nm.
- Install ATF cooling hoses to ATF cooler.
- Check coolant level in cooling system →

- 19 - ENGINE - COOLING SYSTEM for 4.2 LITER V8 5V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BFM
- 19 - ENGINE - COOLING SYSTEM for 5.2 LITER 10-CYL. 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BSM
- 19 - COOLING SYSTEM for 6.0 LITER 12-CYL. 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BSB
- Then, check ATF level and top off → ATF level, checking .
