Lock Carrier, Moving into Service Position

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Support tool 3369
Work sequence
- Activate vehicle lifting mode → 43 - Self Leveling Suspension .
- Remove both front wheels.
NOTE:
- Secure the brake discs with wheel bolts.
- For vehicles with auxiliary heater, remove bolts - arrows - for exhaust pipe of auxiliary heater on sound insulation.
- Loosen quick-release fasteners - 1 - and remove front sound insulation.
- Remove front part of left and right front wheelhouse liners → 66 - EXTERIOR EQUIPMENT .
- Remove front bumper cover → 63 - BUMPERS .
- Disconnect harness connector - 2 - and move wiring clear.
- Remove bolts - 1 -.
- Disconnect air ducting for auxiliary cooler.
CAUTION:
The air conditioning refrigerant circuit must not be opened.
NOTE:
- To prevent damage to the A/C compressor and also to the refrigerant lines/hoses, ensure that the lines and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.
- Unclip refrigerant line at lock carrier - arrow -.
- Free up hood release cable at left front of lock carrier.
- In left and right wheelhousing, unfasten nut - 1 - and bolt - 2 - for lock carrier.
- On both sides, remove bolts - 1 to 5 -.
NOTE:
- First, remove one bolt from left and right sides and mark the installed position of the lock carrier in the bolt hole using a felt tip marker.
- Remove bolts from sleeves of special tool support tool 3369.
- Thread bolts from support tool 3369 at left and right into upper holes of impact absorber.
- Pull off hood seal on both fenders.
- Remove one bolt - arrow - at top of lock carrier on left and right.
- Carefully pull lock carrier toward front.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Install lock carrier with attachments → 50 - BODY - FRONT .
- Install front bumper cover → 63 - BUMPERS .
- Deactivate vehicle lifting mode → 43 - Self Leveling Suspension .
- Check headlight adjustment → 01 - MAINTENANCE .
