Oil pressure and oil pressure switch F1 , checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Oil pressure gauge V.A.G 1342
- Voltage tester V.A.G 1527 B
- Connector test set V.A.G 1594 C
- Vehicle diagnostic, testing, and information system VAS 5051
Test requirements
- Oil level OK
- Engine oil temperature approximately 80°C.
Checking oil pressure switch F1
- Disconnect electrical harness connector - arrow - from oil pressure switch F1.
- Remove oil pressure switch F1.

- Connect oil pressure gauge V.A.G 1342 with adapter V.A.G 1342/14 to hole for oil pressure switch F1.
- Install oil pressure switch F1 - 2 - into oil pressure gauge V.A.G 1342.
- Connect brown wire - 1 - of tester to Ground (GND).
- Connect voltage tester V.A.G 1527B using adapter cables from connector test kit V.A.G 1594A to oil pressure switch F1 and battery plus (+).
- LED must not light up.
- If LED is lit, replace oil pressure switch F1.
- Start engine.
NOTE:
- While starting engine, watch Pressure Tester and LED as oil pressure switch may open during start.
Black oil pressure switch:
- At 1.2 to 1.6 bar pressure, LED must light up.
- If LED is not lit, the oil pressure switch must be replaced.
Oil pressure, checking
- Disconnect electrical harness connector from oil pressure switch - arrow -.
- Remove oil pressure switch.

- Connect oil pressure gauge V.A.G 1342 with adapter V.A.G 1342/14 to hole for oil pressure switch.
- Install oil pressure switch - 2 - in oil pressure gauge V.A.G 1342.
- Start engine (engine oil temperature approximately 80°C).
- Oil pressure at idle: at least 1.0 bar
- Oil pressure at 2000 RPM: at least 3.5 bar
