Camshaft seals, replacing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Seal remover 3240
- Seal installer 3241
Removing
- Toothed belt, removing → Toothed belt, removing and installing .
- Remove camshaft gears.
NOTE:
- If shaft seal leaks, replace seals on both cylinder heads.
- Align inner part of seal extractor 3240 flush with outer part.
Left cylinder head:
- Remove inner part of seal extractor 2 rotations and lock using knurled-head screw.
Right cylinder head:
- Remove inner part of seal extractor 7 rotations and lock using knurled-head screw.
Continued for both sides:
- Lubricate threaded head of seal extractor 3240 , position and forcefully screw into oil seal as far as possible.
- Loosen knurled bolt and turn inner part against camshaft until seal is removed.
- Secure seal remover in a vise at flat spots. Remove seal using pliers
- Clean running and sealing surface.
Installing
- Slide oil seal onto cone of camshaft.
- Press in seal until stop using thrust sleeve 3241/1 and bolt 3241/6.
- Install toothed belt (adjust timing) → Toothed belt, removing and installing .
