Molded Headliner, Removing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required 

• Torque wrench V.A.G 1410/

1 - Sunroof cover frame

2 - Headliner

• Removing 

• Remove right and left sun visor → Sun Visor, Removing and Installing .
• Remove right and left sun visor bearings → Sun Visor Mount, Removing and Installing .
• Remove left and right make-up mirror lights. → 96 - LIGHTS, SWITCHES - INTERIOR, ANTI-THEFT
• Remove right and left roof grab handles → Roof Grab Handle, Removing and Installing .

• Remove right and left garment hooks → Garment Hook, Removing and Installing .
• Remove upper left and right A-pillar trim → Upper A-Pillar Trim, Removing and Installing .
• Remove D-pillar trim on left and right → D-Pillar Trim, Removing and Installing .
• Remove the roof end strip → Roof Frame, Removing and Installing .

• Remove bolts - 5  - (qty. 2).
• Remove rear interior/reading light. → 96 - LIGHTS, SWITCHES - INTERIOR, ANTI-THEFT
• Remove bolts - 6  - (qty. 2).
• With sunroof: Pry cover frame - 1  - out of clips - 3  - on all sides.

• Remove the interior rearview mirror → Interior Rearview Mirror, Removing and Installing and → Interior Rearview Mirror, Removing and Installing .
• Remove the front interior/reading light. → 96 - LIGHTS, SWITCHES - INTERIOR, ANTI-THEFT .
• Remove bolts - 7  - (qty. 4).
• Remove bolts - 8  - (qty. 2).

• Place shifter or selector lever in front position.
• Position passenger seat backrest as far back as possible.
• Position drivers seat backrest as far back as possible.
• Pull out tabs - 4  - (4x) on left and right sides.

• To remove cable at molded headliner, exit vehicle and carefully lower molded headliner onto seats.
• Disconnect harness connector of ribbon cable at front interior light module.
• Open left rear door.
• Remove molded headliner through passengers door.

• Installing 

• Carefully slide molded headliner in through a rear door.

• Clip in visor bracket.
• Clip in sunroof cover frame - 1  -.
• Install bolts - 5  - (2x).
• Continue to install molded headliner - 1  - in reverse order of removal.

3 - Clamps

4 - Tabs (4x).

5 - Screws, (qty. 2)

• Tightening torque 4 Nm.

6 - Screws, (qty. 2)

• Tightening torque 4 Nm.

7 - Screws (qty. 4)

• Tightening torque 4 Nm.

8 - Screws, (qty. 2)
