Front seat backrest, assembly overview

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Torque wrench V.A.G 1331

1 - Backrest

• Removing 

• Remove seat → Seat, assembly overview .
• Attach fixture for seat repair VAS 6136 to engine and transmission holder VAS 6095.
• Attach front seat to future for seat repair VAS 6136.
• Remove backrest adjuster → Backrest adjuster, removing and installing .

• Remove seat height adjuster → Seat height adjuster, removing and installing .
• Remove side trim on sill panel side → Side trim on sill panel side, removing and installing .
• Remove side trim on tunnel side → Side trim on tunnel side, removing and installing .
• Disconnect connectors - 7  - (3x).

• Remove cables at mounting rails.
• Remove bolts -2- (4x).
• Tilt backrest - 1  - forward onto seat.
• Press cushion aside and carefully pull wiring harness out of seat pan - 8  -.

• Remove backrest - 1  -.

• Installing 

• Replace bolts - 2  - (4x).
• Before inserting bolts - 2  - (4x) recut the thread in the backrest frame.
• Install backrest - 1  - in reverse order of removal.

2 - Bolts (4x)

• Tightening torque 20 Nm

3 - Backrest adjuster

4 - Plastic rivet (2x)

5 - Seat height adjuster

6 - Side trim, sill panel side

7 - Connector (3x)

8 - Seat pan

9 - Side trim, tunnel side

10 - Plastic rivet (2x)
