A-Pillar Upper Trim, Removing And Installing: Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Observe the following when doing so:
- Follow all Safety Precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to PYROTECHNIC, ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM COMPONENTS, SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND TESTING PROCEDURES .
- Do not clamp the head curtain airbag when installing upper A-pillar trim -1-.
If trim clamps remain in body mounting points, remove these and insert them in trim.
Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.
-- Remove any locking compound residue from the threaded hole for the retaining screw in the upper A-pillar trim. You can use a thread cutter to do so.
If threaded hole is not cleaned, there is the danger that the new screw could seize up during installation and shear off when removed again.
-- Insert upper A-pillar trim -1- in ribbed instrument panel ridge -2- in the direction of the -arrow-.
-- Tip upper A-pillar trim -2- toward the body and clip in the clamps without clamping head curtain airbag -5-.
-- Align hole in adapter -4- to threaded hole in body.
-- Tighten screw -3- to tightening specification.
-- Clip in cover cap -1- with the airbag symbol and draw door seal lip -6- over the upper A-pillar trim.
