Piezoelectric Fuel Injectors, Removing And Installing: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Removing 

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

NOTE:

The following describes removing and installing the fuel injectors in cylinder bank 2 (left). The procedure on the opposite side is identical except for a few steps.

It is necessary to remove the air guide hose and the air filter housing upper section to remove and install the fuel injectors in cylinder bank 1 (right).

It is necessary to remove the fuel filter to remove and install the 5th and 6th fuel injectors in cylinder bank 2 (left).

WARNING:
CAUTION:
  • Mark the allocation of the injectors to the cylinder. They must always be re-installed on the same cylinder.
  • Always seal any open connections with a suitable cover.

-- Disconnect the return line connection on the injector by pressing both tabs downward and pulling the center piece at the same time upward in direction of -arrows-.

NOTE:

Maintain clean working conditions. Dirt and contaminants must not enter the return lines and the connections on the fuel injectors.

-- Disconnect the connector on the injector to be removed.

-- Loosen the union nuts from the high pressure lines -1 through 6-.

-- Remove high pressure lines.

NOTE:

It is necessary to remove the air guide hose and the air filter housing upper section to remove and install the fuel injectors in cylinder bank 1 (right).

It is necessary to remove the fuel filter to remove and install the 5th and 6th fuel injectors in cylinder bank 2 (left).

The Following Step is Only Necessary for Removing Fuel Injectors 5 and 6

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2- and nuts -4- from the fuel filter.

-- Move the fuel filter to the side with the fuel hoses still connected.

All 

-- Remove the injector covers -arrows-.

-- Pull the covers upward and turn them 1 /4 turn (90°).

-- Remove the injector tensioning brackets -arrows-.

-- Remove the injectors using the Puller - Unit InjectorT10055 and Puller - Unit Injector - Adapter 1T10055/1.

-- Place the injectors on a clean cloth.
