Auxiliary Fuel Pump - V393-, CHECKING DELIVERY RATE

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
Hose with inner-diameter 8 mm, fuel resistant
Measuring container, fuel-resistant

Procedure

Transfer Fuel Pump - G6- fuel delivery rate OK. Checking, refer to Transfer Fuel Pump - G6- /Fuel Pump - G23-, CHECKING .

Follow all test requirements, refer to TEST CONDITIONS .

Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions, refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

-- Carefully pull the engine cover off the 4 bolts one after the other in direction of -arrows-.

WARNING:

Very hot fuel can burn your skin.

In extreme cases, the fuel lines and the fuel itself in vehicles with a common rail engine can be as hot as 100 °C (212 °F) after the engine has been turned off. Let the fuel cool down before opening any line connections otherwise there is a danger of scalding.
Wear safety gloves
Wear protective eyewear.

There is a risk of injury because the fuel is under pressure.

To reduce pressure in fuel system, lay a clean cloth around the connector and carefully loosen connector.

-- Disconnect the fuel line -1-.

NOTE:

Ignore item -2-.

-- Connect the fuel resistant hose to the fuel supply line -arrow- and hold it inside a fuel resistant container.

-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester and turn on the ignition.

There are various procedures, depending on the engine version.

Version 1

Start OBD
	OBD
		01- Engine electronics
			Basic setting
				Transfer fuel pump test

-- Tap the Start button and tap the Stop button after 15 seconds.

Version 2

Start OBD
	OBD
		01- Engine electronics
			Basic setting
				Select channel 35

-- Activate the button -1-, tap it and after 15 seconds, tap the arrow key -2-.

Both Versions

-- Check the amount of fuel in the measuring container.

Specified value: About 1 liter (1.05 quarts) at minimum 12.5V battery voltage.

If minimum delivery quantity is not obtained, the following malfunctions may be present:

The fuel lines are pinched.
The fuel filter is clogged.
The fuel pump is faulty.

Assemble in reverse order of disassembling. Note the following:

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps of the same type as those equipped by the factory.
