Triple Roller Joint AAR 3300 i, Disassembling
- Clamp driveshaft horizontally in vise.
- Use protective vise covers.
- Ensure driveshaft is not damaged.
- Mark location of the joint to the driveshaft
If they are not marked and are not re-installed in their previously installed positions, noises may occur later during driving operation.
A water-proof felt pen is well-suited for marking.
- Open clamps - arrows -.
- Slide back protective boot.
- Guide assembly/removal tool T40018 behind the joint.
Guide pins - 1 - must contact joint.
- Bring installation device T40018 into contact with joint by turning knurled thumb screws - 2 -.
- Secure joint without play in the assembly/removal tool T40018.
- Only install screws - 2 - hand-tight.
- Install slide hammer VW 771 in assembly/removal tool T40018.
- Remove joint horizontally using slide hammer.
Leave joint in assembly/removal tool T40018.
- Mark installation position of the parts - 1 - and - 2 - with lines.
If they are not marked and are not re-installed in their previously installed positions, noises may occur later during driving operation.

1 - Driveshaft
2 - Triple roller star
- Remove grease from joint and joint housing using a lint-free cloth.
- Remove securing ring.
1 - Circlip pliers (commercially-available)
- Press triple roller star off of driveshaft
Assembly tool T10065/4 must not be applied to roller body.
- Remove protective boot.
- Remove grease on shaft splines and from protective boot.
- Check roller body and ball cage for wear.
- Clean driveshaft and housing.
Triple Roller Joint AAR 3300 i, Assembling
- Slide new protective boot onto driveshaft.
- Press circlip - 1 - on as far as center of the splines.
- Use special tool shown in illustration.
Instead of T10065/2 conical drive shafts, cylindrical drive shafts T10065/3 are used.
Triple roller star, pressing onto driveshaft
- Before installing triple roller star, splines - A - must be lightly coated with grease used in joint.
- Place triple roller star on shaft according to marking and drive on until impact.
This illustration only applies to conical drive shafts - arrow -.
The chamfer on star faces toward driveshaft, this is used as an assembly aid.
- Use special tool shown in illustration.
Special tool T10065/2 must not come in contact with roller body.
- Place triple roller star on shaft according to marking and drive on until impact.
- Circlip must engage audibly, triple roller star must lie against circlip with no gap.

- Place triple roller star on shaft according to marking and drive on until impact.
- Circlip must engage audibly, triple roller star must lie against circlip with no gap.
- Install circlip.
1 - Circlip pliers (commercially-available)
- Press 70 grams of high temperature grease from the repair set into triple roller joint.
- Lightly lubricate roller body
Make sure roller body does not tilt!
- Press joint over the triple roller star using a plastic hammer.
- Press remaining quantity of grease in protective boot.
- Ensure correct seating of boot on joint.
- Boot must fit in groove and on joint contour.
- Position joint in center position. See the "min - max" position.
- Vent CV boot - arrow - , e.g. using a screwdriver, while positioning joint piece in center position.
- Install clamp.
- For a better alignment of multi-point socket head bolts when installing driveshaft, clamping sleeve connecting tube - 2 - must be between joint connecting flanges - 1 -.
- Tighten small and large clamps using hose clamp pliers V.A.G 1275.
