Center Differential And Center Differential Housing Overview

The center differential housing can be removed and installed with the transmission installed. Refer to CENTER DIFFERENTIAL, TRANSMISSION INSTALLED .

1. Center Differential Housing
   • With or without vibration dampener, depending on version
   • Removing and Installing with transmission installed CENTER DIFFERENTIAL, TRANSMISSION INSTALLED 
   • Replacing the shaft seal, refer to REAR FLANGE SHAFT SEAL, REPLACING 
   • Servicing, refer to Disassembly and Assembly
2. Bolt
   • 10 Nm + 90° additional turn
   • Aluminum bolts (M8; 35 mm long)
   • Quantity: 9 or 11
   • Always replace
3. Bolt

   Steel bolts (38 mm long possible with M8 threaded pin)

   • 15 Nm + 90° additional turn

     Aluminum bolts

   • 10 Nm + 90° additional turn
   • Quantity: 2
   • Always replace.
4. Bolt
   • 15 Nm + 90° additional turn
   • Steel bolts (M8; 55 mm long)
   • Quantity: 2
   • Always replace.
5. Pressure Spring

   • Installed position: The camber on the inner diameter faces toward the flange shaft

8. Center Differential
   • Servicing only by the manufacturer
   • Replacing the center differential bearing, refer to Disassembly and Assembly
   • Removing and Installing with transmission installed, refer to CENTER DIFFERENTIAL, TRANSMISSION INSTALLED 
9. Adjusting Ring
   • For positioning the center differential
   • Determining the thickness, refer to Description and Operation

    • Pay attention to the installed position to the transmission cover CENTER DIFFERENTIAL, TRANSMISSION INSTALLED 
12. Spur Gear
    • Side shaft/pinion drive wheel
