Overview - Center Differential

- Do not start or tow the vehicle when the center differential is removed or when the gear oil has been drained.

- Coat with transmission fluid

- For the center differential
- Refer to CENTER DIFFERENTIAL BALL BEARING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Circlip
- For the flange shaft ball bearing
- Circlip

- Ball Bearing
- For the rear flange shaft
- Refer to REAR FLANGE SHAFT BALL BEARING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Sealing Plug
- 35 Nm
- Replacing
- For transfer case filler opening
- Center Differential Housing
- Seal for the Rear Flange Shaft
- Rear Flange Shaft
- Removing and installing, refer to REAR FLANGE SHAFT SEAL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- When replacing the rear flange shaft, also replace the seal
- Transmission fluid, allocate correct fluid.
- Bolt
- Tightening specifications and sequence, -- Tighten bolts to 8 Nm in -1 to 6- sequence. -- Tighten the bolt in the following sequence: -1 through 6- plus 90° additional turn.
- Replacing
-- Tighten the center differential housing bolts in three steps as follows:
-- Pretighten the bolts -1- and -2- to 3 Nm.
-- Tighten bolts to 8 Nm in -1 to 6- sequence.
-- Tighten the bolt in the following sequence: -1 through 6- plus 90° additional turn.
