Steering wheel, removing and installing (sport steering wheel)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required 

• Torque wrench V.A.G 1331

• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 A

1 - Coil connector with slip ring

2 - Airbag unit connector

3 - Torx bolts T30 (Qty. 2)

• Tightening torque 7 Nm

4 - Spiral spring connector

5 - Steering wheel

• Removal:

• Remove airbag unit (sport steering wheel) → Airbag unit, removing and installing (sport steering wheel) .
• Bring steering wheel to center position (wheels straight).
• Remove screw - 6  -.
• Remove spiral spring connector - 4  -.

• Remove steering wheel - 5  -.

• Installing: 

Installation is reverse of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

• Ensure connector and securing clip engage completely (audibly).
• Attach steering wheel in center position (wheels straight).
• Replace bolt - 6  - and tighten it to 50 Nm.

6 - Socket head bolt

• Tightening torque 50 Nm

7 - Airbag unit
