Overview - Timing Chain Covers

    • Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 4.
  2. Shaft Seal
  3. Bolt
    • Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 4.
  4. Alignment Sleeve
    • Quantity: 2
  5. Timing Chain Cover Lower Section
  6. Threaded Pin
  7. Left Cylinder Head Gasket
  8. Bolt
    • Replace

      Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 2

  9. Bracket
    • For wiring harness
  10. Bracket
    • For wiring harness
  11. Bolt
    • Replace

      Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 2

  12. Left Timing Chain Cover
  13. Seal
    • Replace
  14. Seal
    • Replace
  15. Right Cylinder Head Gasket
  16. Right Timing Chain Cover
  17. Nut
    • 9 Nm
  18. Bracket
    • For electric wires
  19. Threaded Pin
    • Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 3
  20. Bracket
    • For heat shield
  21. Bolt
    • Replace
    • Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 3
  22. Alignment Sleeve
    • Quantity: 2
  23. Bolt
    • Replace
    • Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 3
  24. Cover
    • For the opening for the starter
  25. Engine Speed Sensor -G28-
  26. Bolt
  27. Cover
    • for Engine Speed Sensor -G28-

NOTE:

Replace any bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.

The brackets -arrows A and B- are connected with the left timing chain cover.

-- Tighten the bolts in two steps in the sequence shown.

Step Bolts Tightening Specification/Additional Turn
1. -1 to 8- 5 Nm
2. -1 to 8- Tighten 90° additional turn

NOTE:

Replace any bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.

The mount -arrow- is affixed with the right timing chain guard.

-- Tighten the bolts in two steps in the sequence shown.

Step Bolts Tightening Specification/Additional Turn
1. -1 to 8- 5 Nm
2. -1 to 8- Tighten 90° additional turn

NOTE:

Replace any bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.

-- Tighten bolts in stages as follows:

Step Bolts Tightening Specification/Additional Turn
1. -Arrows- 3 Nm
2. -1 to 10- 3 Nm diagonally
3. -1, 2, 4, 5 and 7- Tighten 90° additional turn
4. -Arrows- 9 Nm
5. -8, 9, and 10- 8 Nm
6. -8, 9, and 10- Tighten 90° additional turn
7. -3- 16 Nm
8. -6- 20 Nm
9. -6- Tighten 180° additional turn
