Driveshaft with 100 mm and 108 mm CV Joint
1 - Cover
- Pry out with screwdriver
- Always replace
- Pressing on → Inner CV joint, installing under Driveshaft with 100 mm CV Joint, Servicing
2 - Gasket
- Always replace
3 - Securing ring
- Remove and install with commercially-available circlip pliers
- Always replace
4 - Inner constant velocity joint
- Exterior diameter: 108 mm
- Replace only as complete unit
- Checking → Inner Constant Velocity Joint, Checking under Driveshaft with 100 mm CV Joint, Servicing
- Pressing off
- Pressing on → Inner CV joint, installing under Driveshaft with 100 mm CV Joint, Servicing
- Greasing
- Adhesive surface must be free of oil and grease
- When installing joint on axle shaft, splines on axle shaft must be lightly coated with grease used in joint.
5 - Protective boot for inner CV joint with cap
- Without ventilation bore
- Carefully drive off cap with drift
- Always replace
- In case of damage, check inner constant velocity joint
- Before mounting on the constant velocity joint, coat the sealing surface with sealant D 454 300 A2 → Inner CV joint, installing under Driveshaft with 100 mm CV Joint, Servicing .
- Align cover to screw holes
- The protective boot/driveshaft sealing surfaces must be free of grease when installing.
- Before tightening clamp, briefly raise CV boot to allow pressure to equalize.

- Always replace

10 - CV boot for outer constant velocity (CV) joint
- Without ventilation bore
- Check for tears and chafing; replace if necessary
- In case of damage, check outer constant velocity joint → Outer Constant Velocity Joint, Checking under Driveshaft with 100 mm CV Joint, Servicing
- The protective boot/joint sealing surfaces must be free of grease when installing.
- Before tightening clamp, briefly raise CV boot to allow pressure to equalize.
11 - Clamp
- Always replace
- Tensioning → Figure
12 - Securing ring
- Always replace
- Insert in shaft groove
- Before installing the constant velocity joint, align the seal in the center with the opening facing upward.
13 - Outer constant velocity joint
- Exterior diameter: 100 mm
- Replace only as complete unit
- Checking
- Driving off
- Installing: Drive onto shaft using plastic hammer until compressed circlip seats.
- Circlip must lie in joint chamfer when guiding in, guide with pliers if necessary.
- Greasing
- When installing joint on axle shaft, splines on axle shaft must be lightly coated with grease used in joint.
14 - Collar screw
- Always replace

Grease quantity and type
Regrease joint when replacing CV boot.
Fill joints with grease .
NOTE:
- Note that the outer and inner joints use different types of grease.
