Backrest Cover and Upholstery, Separating from Individual Rear Seat

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required 

• Upholstery clip pliers V.A.G 1634

1 - Awl V.A.G 1636 A

2 - Retainer

3 - Plastic clips

4 - Backrest frame

5 - Rubber pieces (2x)

6 - Side clamping strips (6x)

7 - Upholstery clips (4x)

8 - Lower clamping strips (5x)

9 - Backrest heating connector

10 - Retaining strip

11 - Cover and upholstery

• Removing 

• Remove seat pan → Seat Pan, Removing and Installing .
• Remove individual rear seat → Individual Rear Seat, Removing and Installing .
• Mount the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136 on the engine and transmission holder VAS 6095.
• Secure individual rear seat on seat repair stand VAS 6136.

• Remove the headrests → Headrest, Removing and Installing .
• Remove headrest guides → Headrest Guides, Removing .
• Using a screwdriver, pry out side clamping strips - 6  - (6x).
• Open retaining strip - 10  -.

• Cut upholstery clips - 7  - (4x).
• Using a screwdriver, pry out lower clamping strips - 8  - (5x).
• Disconnect harness connector - 9  -.
• Disengage left and right rubber pieces - 5  - from backrest frame - 4  -.

• Installing 

• Install cover and upholstery - 11  - in reverse order of removal.
• Use Upholstery Clip Pliers VAG1634 to install the new upholstery clips - 7  -.
