Assembly overview of antenna wire
Example:
Antenna wire from radio to antenna is faulty.
For the repair, the following wires are required:
- Adapter wire, for connection to radio; length: approx. 30 cm
- Connecting wire; available in various lengths
- Adapter wire, for connection to antenna; length: approx. 30 cm
- Disconnect harness connectors of faulty antenna wire from modules.
- Determine routing of faulty antenna wire in the vehicle and measure the total length of antenna connection to be replaced in vehicle.
- Total length of antenna connection results from the lengths of required adapter wires - 1 - and - 3 - as well as connecting wire - 2 -.
- Subtract 60 cm from the total length of antenna wire measured, to receive the length of connecting wire required.
- Obtain adapter wires required and connecting wires with calculated length as original replacement part according to Parts Catalog.
- Cut off harness connectors of faulty antenna wire.
- The rest of the faulty antenna wire remains in vehicle.
- Connect the adapter wires to the devices in the vehicle.
- Provide harness connectors with piece of foam hose to avoid rattle.
- Route and secure connecting wire parallel to old antenna wire.
NOTE:
- Antenna wires must not be kinked or excessively bent! Bending radius must not fall short of 50 mm.
- Connect connecting wire with adapter wires.
- To avoid rattle, slide on suitable piece of foam hose onto antenna connector.
- Perform a function test.
