Vehicles with 4.2l FSI engines

Removing 

NOTE:
  • All cable ties opened or cut during engine removal must be reinstalled at the same locations during installation.
  • With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) wire → Battery, disconnecting and connecting .
  • Remove rear engine cover - arrows  -.

NOTE:
  • B+ wire can only be removed after disconnecting electrical harness connector of terminal 50.
  • Unscrew Ground (GND) wire - 1  -.
  • Disconnect electrical wires - 3  - and - 4  -.
  • Unscrew bolts - 2  - and - 5  - and remove starter.

Installing 

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Tightening torques

Starter to transmission M10 1) 65
  M12 65
  • 1) Screw property class 10.9.
