Energy Management Control Module J644, removing and installing
Removing
NOTE:
- While removing and installing, no charger must be connected.
- If control module is replaced, select "Guided Functions" of respective control module in.
- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) wire → Battery, disconnecting and connecting .
Vehicles with molded insert:
- If present, remove mounting bolt - 1 -.
- Remove molded insert from spare wheel well - arrows -.

All:
- Remove ground pin - 2 - and cap nut - 5 -.
- Remove Energy Management Control Module J644 - 4 -.
- Unscrew ground (GND) wire - 1 - to battery from Energy Management Control Module J644.
- Disconnect electrical harness connector - 3 -.
- Press catch - 1 - and rotate retaining bracket in - direction of arrow - to do so.

Installing
When installing, always heed the following sequence, otherwise proper function of Energy Management Control Module J644 cannot be guaranteed.
- Install ground (GND) wire 1 to battery on Energy Management Control Module J644.
- Screw Energy Management Control Module J644 4 on to body, tighten ground (GND) pin 2 and cap nut 5 to do so.
- Connect ground (GND) wire to battery.
- Connect electrical harness connector 3 to Energy Management Control Module J644.
- Perform necessary steps after connecting battery.
If Energy Management Control Module J644 was replaced, it must be coded.
