Cruise Control System, Activating and Deactivating
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- e.g. Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B (or any of the VAS 505X class testers) with diagnostic cable
Procedure
- Connect Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B → Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B, Connecting .
NOTE:
- If an error message appears on the display →, VAS 5051B operating instructions.
- Press Guided Functions button on operating mode selection screen.

Display:
- Enter vehicle identification number (VIN) in field - 1 - in selection - A -.
The Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B then switches to the next selection level. The following example shows how vehicle type, engine and vehicle system of function could be selected (some steps may be skipped):

- Follow VAS 5051B instructions and prompts.
After successful activation/deactivation:
- Tap button Go to.
- Select function "Exit".
- Switch ignition off and disconnect tester from Data Link Connector (DLC).
NOTE:
- If it is not possible to activate/deactivate the CCS using "Guided Fault Finding", e.g.: with older Engine Control Module (ECM) generations, CCS function (or lack of CCS function) are hard-programmed into the ECM version. In these cases, ECMs with and without CCS function are identified via different ECM part numbers → Parts Catalog.
