Fuel tank at least ¹ /₄ filled.
Ignition switched off.

Test sequence

Remove rear seat bench →
- 72 - SEAT - FRAMES
- 72 - SEAT - FRAMES for BODY INTERIOR - CABRIOLET
.

Unbolt cover for right locking flange - arrows -.

Remove electrical wires with connector - arrow - from locking flange opening and lay them aside.

Disconnect electrical harness connector - arrow - at right locking flange.

Connect remote control V.A.G 1348/3 A with connection V.A.G 1348/3-3 to contact - 1 - using an adapter cable from the connector test set V.A.G 1594 C.
Using insulating tape, tape over the second contact of connection V.A.G 1348/3-3 to prevent a short circuit - arrow -.
Connect contact - 4 - to vehicle Ground (GND) using a jumper cable from the connector test set V.A.G 1594.

Push cover over positive terminal pick-off to the right - arrow 1 - and remove it upward - arrow 2 -.

Release retaining clip - arrow A - and open cover - 2 - over positive terminal pick-off.
Connect alligator clip to positive terminal pick-off (+).

NOTE:

Ignore - 1 - and - arrows B -.

Remove fuel filler cap from fuel filler tube.

Pull rear engine cover off - arrows -.

CAUTION: Fuel system is under pressure! Before opening system, place clean rags around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the connection.

Disconnect fuel line at fuel rail - arrow -.

Connect pressure gauge V.A.G 1318 to fuel line using adapter V.A.G 1318/11 and V.A.G 1318/12.
Connect assisting hose - arrow - to pressure gauge and hold it in a measuring container.
Open shut-off valve of pressure gauge. The lever points in the direction of flow.
Generate pressure in fuel system by pressing the switch of the remote control and slowly closing shut-off valve of the pressure gauge.

Specification: 4 bar positive pressure.

From this point on do not move position of shut-off valve.
Empty measuring container.
Press switch on remote control for 15 seconds.

Compare quantity of fuel delivered with minimum delivery rate in diagram (cm ³ /15s).

NOTE:

Voltage at fuel pump with engine stopped and pump running is approx. 2 volts less than battery voltage.

If minimum delivery quantity is not obtained, the following malfunctions may be present:

Fuel lines pinched.
Fuel filter clogged.
Fuel pump faulty.

Assembly is performed in reverse order.

Install fuel line.
