Air Spring Damper, Removing and Installing: Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal. Observe the following when doing so:
During assembly work, make sure no pressure points form on the suspension strut boot.
- First tighten bolts/nuts on components with bonded rubber bushings by hand. Raise the wheel bearing housing to tighten bolts/nuts → Wheel Bearing Housing, Raising to Control Position .
- Install mounting bracket on the air spring damper → Mounting Bracket, Removing and Installing .
- First secure air spring damper on the body.
Tightening sequence:
- Tighten bolts - 1 - , - 2 - and - 3 - by hand.
The mounting bracket guides must sit in the body bushings.
- First tighten bolt - 2 - , then bolts - 1 - and - 3 -.
- Insert both linkage stubs of upper control arm - 2 - into wheel bearing housing - 3 - and tension as far as possible downward using pliers T40067.
- Tighten bolt - 1 -.
- Install vehicle level control system sensor coupling rod - 1 - on control arm.
- Install left and right couplings - 2 - and.
- Remove bolt - 3 - from air spring damper on control arm.
- Tighten stabilizer bar mounting bolts.
- Connect connecting piece - 1 - at residual pressure valve - 2 -.
- Mount wheel and tighten → 44 - WHEELS, TIRES, VEHICLE ALIGNMENT .
- Air suspension system, filling → System, Venting or Filling .
- Re-adapt control position → Control Position, Programming .
- Install plenum chamber cover → 92 - WINDSHIELD WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM .
