Front A/C Controls, Removing and Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required 

• Torque wrench V.A.G 1783/

Removing 

• Place selector lever in position "S".
• Switch off ignition.

Front ashtray, removing

• Open front ashtray.

• Operate button - arrow  -.
• Pull out ashtray insert - 1  -.

• Remove bolt - 1  -.
• Pull front ashtray - 2  - out of center console.
• Disconnect electrical connector.

Remove center console panel with multimedia control unit.

• Pull center console panel with multimedia control unit - 1  - upward and off.

• Disconnect electrical connectors.
• Remove center console panel with multimedia control unit.

Removing front A/C controls

• Remove bolts - 1  - (qty. 2).
• Pull front A/C controls - 3  - out of center console - 2  -.
• Disconnect electrical connectors.
• Remove front A/C controls.

Installing 

Installation is reverse of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

Follow the sequence of installation when installing center console panel with multimedia control unit, front A/C controls and front ashtray:

• Connect electrical harness connectors.
• Insert front A/C controls into center console, but do not tighten bolts.
• Connect electrical harness connectors to multimedia control unit.
• Clip center console panel with multimedia control unit into center console.

• Align at center the center console panel with multimedia control unit.
• Tighten bolts of front A/C controls to the specified tightening torque.
• Install front ashtray → Front Ashtray, Removing and Installing .

Tightening torques

Front A/C controls to center console: 4 Nm

Refer to the respective information for all other tightening torques.
