NOTE:
- Cylinder head bank 1 (right) is displayed in the following illustration.
- After installing the camshafts, the engine may not be started for approx. 30 minutes. The hydraulic lifter equalization elements must seat themselves (otherwise the valves will make contact with the pistons).
- After working on the valve gear and lifters, carefully rotate the crankshaft by hand at least 2 full revolutions before starting to be sure that valves do not strike the pistons.
CAUTION:
When the right camshaft timing chain cover is removed, the engine must not be turned over. Only when the chain tensioner for the right camshaft timing chain and the right timing chain cover are installed, is the timing chain secured against jumping off.
