Gear oil level in transfer case, checking

Safety glasses

Test condition

Gear oil temperature at approx. 20° C (room temperature).

Test sequence

To ensure vehicle is absolutely level, drive onto a 4-column lifting platform or over a service pit.
Place drip tray V.A.G 1306 underneath transmission.

CAUTION: Wear eye protection.

Remove inspection plug - arrow -.

The fluid level must be at the bottom edge of inspection hole opening.

Drain off excess gear oil or top off to proper level; Specification → Transfer case .

NOTE:

Sealing plug with sealing ring must be replaced.

Tighten new sealing plug to 35 Nm.
