Front final drive, topping off gear oil after repair

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Drip tray V.A.G 1306
- Safety glasses
Conditions
- Gear oil temperature at approx. 20° C (room temperature).
Topping off
NOTE:
- General repair notes → General Repair Notes .
- Rules of cleanliness for working on automatic transmissions → Rules of cleanliness for working on automatic transmissions .
- To ensure vehicle is absolutely level, drive onto a 4-column lifting platform or over a service pit.
- Place drip tray V.A.G 1306 underneath transmission.
- Remove inspection plug - arrow -.
- Fill front final drive with gear oil (specification → Capacities ) slowly over a period of at least 5 minutes until oil drips from bottom of inspection hole.
NOTE:
- A filling time of at least 5 minutes is required so that the internal oil level between the differential and oil fill space can equalize.
- Sealing plug with sealing ring must be replaced.
- Tighten new sealing plug to 35 Nm.
NOTE:
- It is not necessary to check the oil level again at this stage.
