Selector shaft oil seal, replacing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Pry Lever - Rmv Outside Mirror 80-200
- Thrust piece T10135
Work procedure
NOTE:
- General repair notes → General Repair Notes .
- Rules of cleanliness for working on automatic transmissions → Rules of cleanliness for working on automatic transmissions .
- Place selector lever in position "P".
- Remove left transmission support.

- Press ball socket - 1 - of the selector lever cable off from selector shaft lever using Pry Lever - Rmv Outside Mirror 80-200.
NOTE:
- Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
- Disregard - 2 -.
- Drive out roll pin - 1 - at selector shaft lever - 2 - in direction indicated - arrow - until selector shaft lever can be pulled off selector shaft.
- Pierce oil seal with a small screwdriver and pull out.
- Lubricate outer circumference and space between sealing ring sealing lips with ATF.
- Press new seal onto selector shaft.
- Installation position: The open side of the seal faces transmission.
- Press on new oil seal as far as stop using thrust piece T10135 and assembly lever - A - making sure that the seal does not distort.
NOTE:
- To prevent assembly lever from slipping when pressing in seal, place a slip-resistant base (e.g. piece of rubber) between assembly lever and subframe - arrow -.
- Drive spring pin back onto removed selector shaft lever in opposite direction to lever.
- Slide selector shaft lever onto shaft and drive in spring pin.
- Carefully press selector lever cable - 1 - onto selector shaft lever - 3 -.
NOTE:
- Do not bend selector shaft lever when pressing off, otherwise selector mechanism can no longer be adjusted correctly.
- Disregard - 2 -.
- Check ATF level → ATF level, checking and topping off .
