Electrical/electronic components and installed locations

Data Link Connector (DLC)

Location: Diagnostic connection is located beneath knee bolster on left of steering wheel.

The following listed components can be tested in "Guided fault finding" with vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.

Mechatronics unit, Transmission Control Module (TCM) J217 , Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch F125 , Sensor for transmission RPM G182 and Transmission Output Speed (RPM) Sensor G195

Location: The mechatronics unit is bolted to underside of the transmission housing and is covered by the transmission oil pan.

The mechatronics unit incorporates the hydraulic control, Transmission Control Module (TCM), Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch and sensors and actuators as a complete synchronized unit. Included are:

The "mechatronics" unit can only be replaced as a complete unit.

NOTE:
  • All components mentioned are tested by On Board Diagnostics (OBD).

Internal transmission wiring harness

Location: The wiring harness - - with connector - - is attached to the mechatronics unit - -.

Transmission Range (TR) Display Y6

Location: Integrated into instrument cluster

NOTE:
  • The Transmission Range (TR) Display Y6 can only be replaced together with instrument cluster.

Kick Down Switch F8

Location: Kick Down Switch F8 is located on vehicle floor.

NOTE:
  • Kick Down Switch F8 is tested by On Board Diagnostics (OBD).

Tiptronic Switch F189

Location: Tiptronic Switch F189 is integrated into circuit board of symbol insert, which is located in shift mechanism cover.

NOTE:
  • The Tiptronic Switch F189 is checked with On Board Diagnostic (OBD).
