Leaks in intake system or exhaust system, consequences

  1. Leaks behind mass air flow sensor

    Components that might be defective:

    1. Gaskets for mass air flow sensor in rear air intake pipe
    2. Connecting hose between rear air intake pipe and turbocharger
    3. Valves, hoses and pipes of overrun air recirculation control and crankcase breather system

    Possible effects:

    1. Loss of power
  2. Leaks behind turbocharger (intake side)

    Components that might be defective:

    1. Connection hoses and pipe between turbocharger and charge air cooler
    2. Charge air cooler
    3. Hose between charge air cooler and front air intake pipe
    4. Gasket of Charge Air Pressure Sensor -G31- (in front air intake pipe)
    5. O-ring between front air intake pipe and intake manifold
    6. Gasket between throttle valve control part and intake manifold
    7. Gasket between intake manifold and cylinder heads
    8. Valves, hoses and pipes of overrun air recirculation control and crankcase breather system

    Possible effects:

    1. Insufficient charge pressure
  3. Leaks before turbocharger (exhaust side)

    Components that might be defective:

    1. Joint between turbocharger and exhaust manifold
    2. Joint between exhaust manifold and cylinder head

    Possible effects:

    1. Insufficient charge pressure, exhaust smell, soot deposits in engine compartment
