Basic Setting (function 04)
- Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool, insert address word 08 "AC/Heating Electronics."
- Advance program until "Select function XX" is displayed. See VAG 1551 ((VAG 1552) SCAN TOOL (ST), CONNECTING AND SELECTING FUNCTIONS .
- Switch printer on by pressing the PRINT button (indicator lamp in the button comes on).
- Check DTC memory. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) MEMORY, CHECKING (FUNCTION 02) . Repair all malfunctions if any are displayed.
- Erase DTC memory. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) MEMORY, ERASING (FUNCTION 05) .
- Check coding. See CODE CONTROL MODULE (FUNCTION 07) and correct, if necessary.

- Press buttons -0- and -4- to select "Basic Setting" function 04.

- Press -Q- button to confirm input.
NOTE:
- On some types of A/C control head -E87- as of index "M", display group number "001" is not accepted and display group number "000" must be entered for these control modules.
When indicated on display:
- Press buttons -0-, -0- and -1- (or -0-, -0- and -0-) to select "display group number 001" (or "000") and press -Q- button to confirm input.
NOTE:
- If a malfunction is detected at an actuator motor during basic setting, A/C control head -E87- with part number as of index "M" enters a replacement value for the impact which is not being reached. The malfunction "adaptation limit exceeded" is stored in DTC memory and the replacement value for this actuator motor will be displayed in measured value block.
- All motors of the A/C system are now moved into their end stops, the end position is stored in the A/C control head -E87- (resistance level of the position sensors installed in the motors).

Display now counts down to 0 (sec.) starting at 50 (sec.).

When readout is 0 (sec.) basic setting is ended.
