Tire pressure monitoring system, operating for the first time

The tire pressure monitoring system needs to be restarted after the control module has been replaced or if DTC "01487" occurs.

• First check whether the instrument cluster is correctly adapted.

  Measured value block 130 must show a "1" in display zone 1.

If there is no entry:

• Perform corresponding Adaptation of the instrument cluster.

  See ADAPTATION (SCAN TOOL FUNCTION 10) (1997-99) or ADAPTATION (FUNCTION 10) (2000-03).

• Switch the ignition off and back on again once.
• Encode the control module for tire pressure monitoring. See ENCODE CONTROL MODULE  .
• Read out and erase the DTC memory. See CHECK DTC MEMORY  .

  All wheels must have the correct tire pressure.

• If necessary fill the tires.
• Following the owner's manual, go to the "Settings" menu, save the tire pressure in "Save pressures" and click on the menu item to confirm.
• Switch the ignition off and back on again once.
• There must not be any DTC entries in either the DTC memory of the instrument cluster or the DTC memory of the control module for tire pressure monitoring.

If DTCs are stored:

• Repair malfunction.
  1. For model years 1997-1999, see ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) .
  2. For model years 2000 and up, see ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) .
• Perform a test drive (for at least 20 minutes).
• Switch the ignition off and back on again once.
• Measured value block 001 should now show the value "FL wheel" in display zone 1.
