Upper C-pillar trim, removing and installing

WARNING: Observe safety precautions when working on side curtain airbags. See appropriate Air Bag Restraint Systems article in Restraints.

NOTE: Removing and installing upper C-pillar trim -Pos. -1- is the same for vehicles with and without side curtain airbag.

NOTE: The following list refers to Fig 1.

Upper C-pillar trim
- Removing:
  - Remove back rest and remove electrically adjustable seat unit at rear. See REAR SEATBACK, REMOVING AND INSTALLING or ELECTRICALLY ADJUSTABLE INDIVIDUAL SEATS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
  - Remove lower C-pillar trim panel. See LOWER C-PILLAR TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING. .
  - Remove side front retaining clip of rear parcel shelf.
  - Remove bolt -2-.
  - Remove trim from C-pillar -3-.
    WARNING: Always observe installation sequence for upper C-pillar trim.
- Installing:
  - Clip trim into C-pillar -3- (2x).
    WARNING: Be sure trim is securely installed.
  - Check for proper fit by pulling on upper edge of trim.
  - Install bolt -2-.
  - Rest of installation is reverse of removal.
