Upper B-pillar trim, removing and installing

WARNING: Observe safety precautions when working on side curtain airbags. See appropriate Air Bag Restraint Systems article in Restraints.

NOTE: Removing and installing upper B-pillar trim -1- is the same for vehicles with and without side curtain airbag.

NOTE: The following list refers to Fig 1.

B-pillar trim
- Removing:
  - Remove safety belt from seat. See appropriate Air Bag Restraint Systems article in Restraints.
  - Remove lower B-pillar trim. See LOWER B-PILLAR TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
  - Remove Phillips-head screws -4-.
  - Pull trim out of guide for side curtain airbag toward bottom.
  - Remove 3-point seat belt -5- from B-pillar trim.
    WARNING: Always observe installation sequence for B-pillar trim.
- Installing:
  - Insert tab -7- in guide for side curtain airbag from below.
  - Assemble B-pillar trim with manual seat belt height adjustment -8- as shown in figure.
    NOTE: Do not press button for manual height adjustment during assembly.
  - Place trim -1- on below tab -2-.
  - Press trim upward.
  - Check trim -1- for secure fitting.
    WARNING: Be sure trim is securely installed.
  - Install bolts -4- (3x).
NOTE:
- Manual seat belt height adjustment must audibly engage in all 5 positions.
- Button must return to upper position after being actuated.
