Hat shelf, removing and installing

NOTE: The following list refers to Fig 1.
  1. Hat shelf 
    • Removing:
      • Loosen lower mounting of three-point seat belt left and right. See appropriate Air Bag Restraint Systems article in Restraints.
      • Remove rear seatback or individual seat rear. See REAR SEATBACK, REMOVING AND INSTALLING or ELECTRICALLY ADJUSTABLE INDIVIDUAL SEATS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
      • Clip cover for belt guide -6- and -10- off.
      • Pry out covers (left and right) at tab -7- and -11- at belt height adjustment -5- and -12-. See appropriate Air Bag Restraint Systems article in Restraints.
      • Remove expanding clips -2-.
      • Unclip power sunshade cover -8- if vehicle is so equipped.
      • Slide foam sleeve -4- back and separate connectors -3- for sunshade and 3rd brake light.
    • Vehicles with power sunshade -9-:
      • Remove mounting nuts in luggage compartment
      • Raise shade box so screws are released from hatshelf.
      • Pull hat shelf forward slightly toward center of vehicle out of guides (arrows) and remove.

  5. Belt height adjustment 
  6. Cover 
    • For belt guide

  9. Fastening nut 
    • 10 Nm (7 ft.lb.)
    • For sunshade
    • Up in luggage compartment
    • 3 parts
