Check pressure:
NOTE:
To avoid damaging the pump, note the following:
- Do not allow the engine to run more than 10 seconds during the test.
- Start the engine without depressing the accelerator pedal and let the engine idle.
- Make a note of the pressure immediately after starting the engine when it is idling (this may require a second technician).
- As the pressure drops during the check, the highest pressure is definitive.
- Specification: 110 - 120 bar
- Turn engine off.
If specification is not obtained, replace the power steering pump. See POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING; STEERING SYSTEM, BLEEDING AND CHECKING FOR LEAKS .
- Check fluid level. See POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING; STEERING SYSTEM, BLEEDING AND CHECKING FOR LEAKS .
- Bleed steering system. See STEERING SYSTEM, BLEEDING .
- Check steering system for leaks. See STEERING SYSTEM, CHECKING FOR LEAKS .
