Cooling system, checking for leaks: Notes
Test requirements:
- Engine at normal operating temperature.
WARNING:
Hot steam can escape from the expansion tank when the filler cap is opened. Cover the filler cap with a cloth and remove it carefully.
- Remove filler cap on expansion tank.
- Install tester VAG 1274 and adapter VAG 1274/8 on expansion tank.
- Build up a pressure of approx. 1.0 bar with hand pump on tester.
- If this pressure is not maintained, trace and repair leaks.
