Safety precautions

Observe the following if the use of test and measuring instruments is necessary during test runs:

WARNING:

Proceed as follows in order to avoid the danger of accident during measuring and test trips:
Only the VAS5051 or VAG1551 may be used for readout of the measured value blocks. The instrument must in all cases be fixed to the rear seat and operated there by a second person.

Observe the following in order to avoid injury to persons and/or damage to electrical and electronic components.

Only connect and disconnect measuring and test instruments with the ignition switched off.
In certain tests, the control module may detect and store a code. For this reason, the DTC memory should be checked and erased, if necessary, after completion of all checks and repairs.

Test preconditions:

Check fuses using the circuit diagram.
Connection of vehicle diagnosis, measuring and information system VAS5051 or scan tool VAG1551. See VAG1551 SCAN TOOL, CONNECTING AND SELECTING ADDRESS WORD .
