Level control system sensors -G76-, -G77-, -G78-, -G289-

The leveling-system sensors are so-called angular resolvers. The level of the vehicle, i.e., the distance between the superstructure (bodywork) and axles is measured by means of four sensors in order to determine vehicle level.

Any change in vehicle height is converted by means of a coupling mechanism into a change in angle in the sensor and is transmitted to the self leveling suspension system control module.

The special feature of the Allroad quattro is the fact that the power for the left-hand leveling-system sensors (-G78- and -G76-) is supplied from control module -J431- of the headlight range control system. sensors -G77- and -G289- on the right-hand side are supplied from the control module for the pneumatic suspension system, -J197-. The reason for this is that the headlight range control system remains serviceable if control module -J197- fails (safety relevant).

The level sensor features two different and separate output signals (angle signals). The four-level pneumatic suspension system uses the PWM signal and the headlight range control system utilizes the angle-proportional voltage.
