Steering wheel, removing and installing (multi-function steering wheel)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required 

• Torque wrench V.A.G 1331

• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 A

1 - Torx bolts T30 (Qty. 2)

• Tightening torque 7 Nm

2 - Steering wheel

• Removal:

• Remove airbag unit (multi-function steering wheel) → Airbag unit, removing and installing (multi-function steering wheel) .
• Bring steering wheel to center position (wheels straight).
• Remove screw - 6  -.
• Remove spiral spring connector - 3  -.

• Remove multi-function cable connector - 9  -.
• With steering wheel heating: Remove steering wheel heating connector - 10  -.
• Remove steering wheel - 2  -.

• Installing: 

Installation is reverse of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

• Ensure connector and securing clip engage completely (audibly).
• Insert supply wire - 7  - in clip - 8  -.
• Attach steering wheel in center position (wheels straight).
• Replace bolt - 4  - and tighten it to 50 Nm.

6 - Socket head bolt

• Tightening torque 50 Nm

7 - Supply cable

8 - Clip

9 - Multi-function steering wheel connector

10 - Steering wheel heating connector

11 - Coil connector with slip ring
